The Holocaust is a period of history where the rise of anti-Semitism caused 4 years of Jewish persecution and the mass genocide of millions of other victims. From 1941 to 1945, Jews were taken and murdered by the Nazi Regime. This mass genocide took the lives of approximately 6 million jews. There were also Non-Jewish victims of Nazi crimes include Homosexuals, Gypsies, Communists, Soviet POW's and the mentally ill. In total, approximately 11 million people were killed. The Nazis set up a massive network of about 42,500 facilities in Germany that were used to kill Jews and the other victims.
The genocide was developed into stages. The German government passed laws to exclude Jews from society, making them the scum of Germany. The Network of concentration camps started out as early as 1933 and the ghettos were set up during the outbreak of World War II. In 1941, Germany established firing squads that were used to murder two million Jews. Around the time America had joined the war, Germany began to transport hundreds of thousands of jews efficiently and slaughtered them by the millions. They majority of these deaths were caused by gas chambers and the Holocaust continued until the end of the War in 1945.
